The yards were maintained as a secret yard for high-profile projects. The Hast Shipyards were chosen for a major refit and repair for the New Republic Imperial-class Star Destroyers Emancipator and Liberator. However, Imperial agents discovered the location of the shipyards. Shortly thereafter, a large Imperial fleet attacked the yards. It inflicted severe damage: besides heavy damage to the pair of Star Destroyers, twenty corvettes, five frigates, and seven MC80 Star Cruisers were put out of commission.

Originally Republic Sienar Systems, Santhe/Sienar Technologies provided numerous starships for the Galactic Republic for many millennia. A short-lived subsidiary, Sienar Design Systems, produced the Sith Infiltrator. Though they denied any involvement in the ship's design, SDS was forced to shut down due to intense scrutiny from the Senate. A century before the Battle of Yavin, the Sienars united with the Santhe family, who owned Santhe Security, due to an arranged marriage.
