Description: English poet, painter, and illustrator William Blake (1757-1827) is usually associated with the Romantic Age but is hard to put on any shelf. Both in his visual arts and his literature, Blake often elaborates motifs from the religious narrative. He did it with the passion and brilliancy of a genius. Even though he was almost unknown in his lifetime, every century that passed held Blake in higher regard.
Description: Sometimes you wonder what you might get away with. Old Bill Shakespeare is no exception! Though to be fair, MUCH of what was commonplace, innocent speech of his time is anything BUT that today! For instance, this quote is part of Lady MacBeth talking about how far she'd go to, if she'd promised her husband something. In modern readings, the audience can't HELP but cough or snicker.
Description: By all rights, Blacula should have had a comic book series. Marvel would have had him crossing paths with the likes of Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Howard the Duck and, of course, Dracula. DC probably would have kept him to his own world, but might have hired the likes of Michael Kaluta or Jeff Jones to illustrate it. But that didn't happen, so I took the initiative. RIP Prince Mamuwalde.

Description: The Doors of Perception is a book by Aldous Huxley. Published in 1954, it elaborates on his psychedelic experience under the influence of mescaline in May 1953. The book takes its title from a phrase in William Blake's 1793 poem The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. Huxley recalls the insights he experienced, ranging from the "purely aesthetic" to "sacramental vision", and reflects on their philosophical and intellectual implications.
