On Saturday, January 9, 1971, after weeks of attention-grabbing teasers (like giant chickens fleeing with the host), the Bob Wilkins hosted horror movie program Creature Features debuted on Oakland's KTVU 2 at 9:00 pm. Kicking off with 'The Horror of Party Beach,' the show was an immediate hit and became a ratings winner, so the show expanded to a double feature format on August 7, 1971.
