Description: Activated on 9 February 1942. Moved to Egypt, October–November 1942, and became part of Ninth Air Force. Trained with Curtiss P-40 Warhawks's while moving westward in the wake of the British drive across Egypt and Libya to Tunisia. Although many of the unit's pilots flew combat missions with other organizations, the 79th group itself did not begin operations until March 1943. By escorting bombers, attacking enemy shipping, and supporting ground forces, took part in the Allied operations that defeated Axis forces in North Africa, captured Pantelleria, and conquered Sicily.
Description: Amazing design perfect for military enthusiasts who loves airplanes. Take this design as a gift for your friend, sister or brother who also loves old school planes. The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American single-engined, single-seat, all-metal fighter and ground-attack aircraft that first flew in 1938.
Description: Honor the spirit of the Flying Tigers and the legendary WWII Warbirds with this striking vintage military graphic. This design features a classic P-40 Warhawk or P-47 Thunderbolt style plane rendered in a distressed, grunge aesthetic and carries the bold "ACES HIGH" motto. It's a fantastic statement for any veteran, pilot, or aviation history fan.
Description: A weathered squadron-style tribute to the American Volunteer Group and the shark-mouthed P-40s that became legends over China and Burma. Built around a diving pursuit fighter, hand-painted tiger attitude, and distressed 1941 military typography, this design channels the raw visual language of wartime airfields rather than a modern aviation graphic. Made for Flying Tigers history enthusiasts, P-40 collectors, CBI theater buffs, vintage military aviation fans, and anyone drawn to the dangerous silhouette of a shark-mouth fighter coming out of the sun.
Description: The First American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Republic of China Air Force in 1941–1942, nicknamed the Flying Tigers, was composed of pilots from the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC), recruited under President Franklin Roosevelt's authority before Pearl Harbor and commanded by Claire Lee Chennault. Their Curtis P-40B Warhawk aircraft, marked with Chinese colors, flew under American control. Their mission was to bomb Japan and defend the Republic of China, but many delays meant the AVG flew in combat after the US and Japan declared war.
