Description: Italian writer Italo Svevo had a profound influence on modern literature. He was an innovator both in the language and the novel's structure. His most important work, Zeno's Conscience, was ignored in Italy and was recognized only after his death because James Joyce had the book translated to French and French critics praised its originality.
