Carretta started out hauling coal and ice up and down the East Coast, but expanded to running dry vans and refers from coast to coast. Three decades later, Carretta was fielding a fleet of over 1,000 trucks, but the '90s saw a lot of profit drain in asset-based trucking companies, so Carretta had wrapped things up and called it quits in 1997.
