Description: Jean-Michel Basquiat (December 22, 1960 – August 12, 1988) was a groundbreaking American artist who revolutionized the 1980s art world as a leading figure of the Neo-expressionism movement. Transitioning from an underground street poet to an international art icon, his raw, multi-layered works combined graffiti text, historical critique, and anatomical imagery to challenge conventional boundaries. Tragically, his explosive career was cut short when he died of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 27.
