Then the church's steeple is struck by lightning and collapses. The beast continues to the Holy Trinity Church in Blythburough and kills 3 church members there. As it exits it leaves claw marks scorched into the wooden door. Dubbed the Black Shuck the hellish hound is said to haunt East Anglia England.

According to the Warrens, in 1968, two roommates claimed their Raggedy Ann doll was possessed by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle Higgins. According to the Warrens the doll was "being manipulated by an inhuman presence", and put it on display at the family's "Occult Museum". The legend of the doll has inspired several films in the Conjuring Universe and is a recurring leitmotif in many others.
