Hellhammer Shorts
Description: Satanic Rites is the third and final demo tape by Swiss extreme metal band, Hellhammer. It was recorded and distributed during December 1983, and like Hellhammer's other releases, it had a major influence on the emerging death metal and black metal genres. Satanic Rites later appeared on the compilation album, Demon Entrails, along with the two other demos, Death Fiend, and Triumph of Death.
Description: An unholy emblem forged in the depths of early extreme metal history, this artwork pays tribute to Satanic Rites (1983), the essential demo from Swiss black metal pioneers Hellhammer. Featuring a hand-drawn goat-demon hybrid framed by tattered bat wings and esoteric symbols, the design exudes pure primitive blasphemy. The raw, dripping logo and monochrome palette evoke Xeroxed zines, rehearsal tapes, and basement rituals — grim, uncompromising, and foundational to the birth of black, death, and doom metal to come.
