Description: Bufo alvarius - The Psychedelic Toad of the Sonoran Desert. Have you heard about those psychedelic frogs that are so often referenced to by hippie folks? Anyone who is into new age and likes looking at a fractal ceiling (or tried mushrooms other than champignons) will probably like this psychonaut artwork.
Description: The skull is one of the most universally recognized symbols in existence. From the Jolly Roger to tombstones and hazard labels, it’s an easy way to represent the concepts of danger and death. Medieval Europe had an entire genre for cranial imagery: memento mori (Latin for “remember that you die”). These artworks — The DanseMacabre skeletons, the vanitas still lifes — were meant to remind the viewers of their mortality. Centuries passed, trends came and went, but the memento mori stayed alive. In the late 19th century, Charles Allan Gilbert created a landmark visual pun titled All is Vanity. Look at the illustration, and you see a skull. Blink, and it transforms into a young woman admiring herself in a vanity.
Description: “If we as adults are not free to make sovereign decisions – right or wrong – about our own consciousness, that most intimate, that most sapient, that most personal part of ourselves, then in what useful sense can we be said to be free at all?" Description: Buffalo Springfield was a rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1966, taking their name from an old Buffalo Springfield steamroller parked outside their house. The group, widely known for the song 'For What It's Worth,' which became a US top 10 hit and a counterculture anthem, released three albums and several singles between 1966 and 1968. Their music combined elements of folk and country with British Invasion and psychedelic rock influences. They were key to the early development of folk rock. Their second album, Buffalo Springfield Again, marked their progression to psychedelia and hard rock. After several drug arrests and line-up changes, the group disbanded in 1968, and their final album, Last Time Around, was released post dissolution.
Description: A psychonaut is an individual who is deeply interested in exploring and expanding their own consciousness through various means. This could include practices such as meditation, lucid dreaming, psychoactive substances, or other spiritual and mystical experiences. They strive to gain a greater understanding of the self and the universe, often seeking to push the boundaries of human perception and experience. Psychonauts may view altered states of consciousness as a tool for personal growth, healing, and transformation, and may approach their explorations with a sense of curiosity, respect, and reverence.
