Tartan Shorts
Description: Perhaps no other group has been glorified and honored more than the Scottish Highlanders of the various clans of Gaelic Scotland. With their tartan kilts, the invention of golf, style of whisky, their centuries long struggle against their English rivals, many of us can trace roots to one or more Highland Clans.
Description: Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland. Scottish kilts almost always have tartan patterns. A full plaid is a long piece of tartan fabric, traditionally worn as part of a highland dress. It usually matches the tartan of the kilt. A full plaid is pleated the whole way, with half of its length sewn shut (so that the pleats cannot open). Its length is almost twice the height of the wearer (about twice the distance from the ground to the wearer's shoulder). Plaids are any crisscross patterns of two or more colors. Tartans are plaids with a name to identify a community or family. Checks are plaids with a regular pattern, usually of only two colors. Plaid sometimes describes the crisscross pattern of tartans or similar.

Description: This design features the Scottish “Lion Rampant”, a traditional heraldic emblem. The red lion rises in a majestic stance against a black background, with blue tongue and claws, as preserved for centuries in the Royal Banner of Scotland. The dynamic depiction combines strength, courage, and pride with classic medieval symbolism, still recognized today as a mark of Scottish identity.
