Description: Hydes is a family-owned and managed brewery in Salford, England. The company has been brewing cask ales since 1863. It owns more than 50 managed and tenanted pubs, mainly in North West England. Alfred and Ralph Hyde inherited a small brewery from their grandfather in 1863. In 1899, William Hyde acquired the Queen's Brewery in Moss Side, Manchester, and began building up an estate of tied public houses. In 1944, the company was renamed Hydes Anvil Brewery after its trademark. Hydes moved from Moss Side to a new site in Salford in 2012.
Description: My passion for type and design has never diminished. Once, while hearing my friend sing her twin baby boys to sleep with ‘One Hundred Bottles of Beer On the Wall’ – which is another story – a vision came to me: I would paint 100 bottles of beer and put them on a wall! I have committed several of my sketchbooks to this undertaking, and have been posting the bottles, as they emerge, on my Facebook page, where folks are eager to opine on what brewery’s offering I ought to paint next and on the quality of various brews. Description: A mainstay in the Murray's range since the mid noughties, Murray's signature pale ale has changed a lot over the years. It used to be called the Nirvana Pale Ale but at some point towards the turn of the first decade the pursuit of Nirvana turned to rage and it was renamed Angry Man Pale Ale and had its recipe tweaked. However, a little extra angst certainly didn't do the beer any harm as it's gone on to be the brewery's flagship ale, available in all parts of the country, now in a tinnie that displays a boxing match between a man and a kangaroo.
