Description: The hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), or hyacinthine macaw, is a parrot native to central and eastern South America. With a length (from the top of its head to the tip of its long pointed tail) of about one meter it is longer than any other species of parrot. It is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species.
Description: It is also known as the Caribe and is a member of the Serrasalmid family. It mainly inhabits black or clear acidic waters in the Orinoco basin in the state of Amazonas in Venezuela. It is a predatory fish that consumes smaller fish and attacks fins, although the diet of juveniles includes aquatic insects and crustaceans such as shrimps. It is also known to eat fruit originating from the surrounding gallery forest. It is a solitary species that is typically not seen in schools. It can reach a maximum length of 24.8cm (about 10in).
Description: It is also known as the kumakuma and is a species of large catfish of the family Pimelodidae. It is native to Amazon and Orinoco River basins and major rivers in the Guianas and northeastern Brazil, South America. It can reach a maximum length of 360cm (about 142in) and a maximum weight of 200kg (441lbs).

Description: Phyllomedusine treefrogs are arboreal, meaning they spend a majority of their lives in trees; they are excellent jumpers. Red-eyed treefrogs are not poisonous and rely on camouflage to protect themselves. During the day, they remain motionless, cover their blue sides with their back legs, tuck their bright feet under their bellies, and shut their red eyes. Thus, they appear almost completely green, and well hidden among the foliage. The large red eyes serve as a defensive adaptation through deimatic behaviour. When a red-eyed treefrog detects an approaching predator, it abruptly opens its eyes and stares at the predator. The sudden appearance of the red eyes may startle the predator, giving the frog a chance to flee.
Description: This Surinam Toad was captured and photographed in the Ecuador Amazon rainforest in July 2022, then released. One of my favorite creatures; quite a challenge to spot in the muddy marshes and streams.

It is also called a 'water monkey' because of its ability to jump out of the water and capture its prey. It usually swims near the water surface waiting for potential prey. It can reach a maximum length of 90.0 cm (about 36 inches) and maximum weight 0f 6.0 kg (about 13 pounds).
