Description: While there is no shortage of brand name guitar amplifiers out there, musicians looking for something with a more personalized sound usually look for something custom. For decades, many guitar players found their sound through a boutique amplifier from the aptly named Ed's Amps in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ed Stapley opened his shop up in 1963, initially providing repair services to the Big Easy's numerous blues and jazz musicians. Guitarists soon realized that their amps came out sounding better than they did when new, and soon had Ed 'fixing' amps that weren't broken. Eventually, Ed broke free from the constraints of factory made amplifiers in favor of building his own from scratch.
