Description: Roswell is a city in, and the seat of, Chaves County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Chaves County forms the entirety of the Roswell micropolitan area. The Roswell incident was named after the town, though the crash site of the alleged UFO was some 75 miles (121 km) from Roswell and closer to Corona. The investigation and debris recovery was handled by the local Roswell Army Air Field. On the 50th anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident the UFO Festival was started.
Description: Believe it or not, as late as the mid-'60s, the concept of rock music on the radio was foreign to most Bay Area residents. Other than the few top 40 AM stations, there was no outlet for the growing rock scene. After a shakeup at KMPX that lead to a walkout, Metromedia owned classical station KSFR took the KMPX crew in, changed its call letters from to KSAN, and the switched to album-oriented rock music format on May 21, 1968. Suddenly, the Bay Area was hearing albums that they'd never heard on the radio before. The station's youthful, counterculture attitude, came across through both music and commentary, became an integral part of the San Francisco youth experience. KSAN became a groundbreaking, and historic rock station.
Description: The San Francisco Shamrocks are a defunct minor professional ice hockey team that played in the Pacific Hockey League (PHL) during the 1977–78 and 1978–79 seasons. Based in Daly City, California, the team played its home games in the Cow Palace. The 1977–78 team compiled a 24-17-1 record, and won the Pacific Hockey League championship.
Description: I'm fascinated with Alien abduction stories and the whole sub-culture which has grown up around it. So this is my Homage to the Alien Nation. So seriously everyone knows that all the governments in the world are merely puppets to the Alien Overlords. Description: After graduating from college in Massachusetts, John H. Wilkins Jr. returned home to work with his father, John J. Wilkins Sr., in his wholesale coffee and grocery firm in Washington D.C. Shortly thereafter in 1923, a fire destroyed most of the firm's warehouses and it was at this point that John Jr. persuaded his father to terminate his grocery business and focus on making their own coffee. Wilkins Coffee was born and would soon become an institution that would dominate the greater Washington metropolitan area for decades. The company would eventually give way to national brands some time in the '90s and is now largely remembered for their early TV commercials featuring a young puppeteer named Jim Henson.
