Description: Avatar: The Last Airbender (Avatar: The Legend of Aang in some regions) is an American animated television series that aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon. The series began in February 2005 and concluded with a two-hour episode titled Sozin's Comet in July 2008. Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in an Asiatic-like world in which some people can manipulate the classical elements with psychokinetic variants of the Chinese martial arts known as "bending". The series is presented in a style that combines anime with American cartoons and relies on the imagery of East-and-South Asian, Inuit, and New World societies.
Description: Cetacean Operations, or Cet-Ops, is the naval arm of the Resources Development Administration on Pandora. Its fleet consists of various surface and submarine vessels, amphibious suits and support aircraft for maritime operations, particularly commercial hunting of tulkuns to extract amrita in order to fund the RDA's colonization effort. In Avatar: The Way of Water, the 1st Recom Squad under Miles Quaritch appropriated command of Cet-Ops Captain Mick Scoresby's whaling fleet and repurposed it to search and hunt down Jake Sully and his family.
Description: The Metkayina are an oceanic Na'vi clan located on Pandora's reefs. The clan is led by Tonowari and Ronal who live in the clan's main village, Awa'atlu. This clan makes use of their extensive and diverse habitat in many ways and has a close relationship with water; just as clans such as the Omatikaya and Olangi ride direhorses to trek the landmasses of Pandora, the Metkayina use ilus as their companion of choice for gliding across the Pandoran oceans.
Description: Pandora is an Earth-like habitable extrasolar moon from the Alpha Centauri System, the closest star system to human's own Solar System. It is the fifth moon of the gas giant Polyphemus, which orbits Alpha Centauri A. The names of both the moon and its mother planet are coined by humans in reference to figures in Greek mythology.
Description: Unobtanium (pronounced un-ob-tain-ee-um) is a highly valuable mineral found on the moon Pandora. Humans mined unobtanium for energy generation, as the RDA was suppressing the development of alternatives on Earth. The value and mining process of the mineral was the primary cause for the poor state of human and Na'vi relations, only worsening as the years progressed.
