Description: My interpretation of the famous art masterpiece, The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli, probably from the mid 1480s. The composition shows the goddess of love and beauty arriving on land, on the island of Cyprus, born of the sea spray and blown there by the winds, Zephyr and, perhaps, Aura. The goddess is standing on a giant scallop shell, as pure and as perfect as a pearl. She is met by a young woman, who is sometimes identified as one of the Graces or as the Hora of spring, and who holds out a cloak covered in flowers. Even the roses, blown in by the wind are a reminder of spring. The subject of the painting, which celebrates Venus as symbol of love and beauty, was perhaps suggested by the poet Agnolo Poliziano.
Description: Snowflake Florida parents were upset that Renaissance art, depicting, Michelangelo's David, Michelangelo’s fresco painting The Creation of Adam, and Botticelli’s Birth of Venus were used to teach a lesson on Renaissance art. One parent calls the classic art: “pornographic”. The Tallahassee, Florida school's principal banned the art from the curriculum to make sure art history is not too "woke" for the fragile Florida parents.

Description: If you are a lover of art history, you have surely heard of Botticelli's masterpiece "Venus". But have you checked out the surrealist version of this iconic Renaissance painting? In this crazy version, the goddess of beauty has her eye and mouth completely swapped, creating a confused and hilarious expression that refers directly to Surrealism and Dadaism, artistic movements that emerged in the early twentieth century and sought precisely to explore the absurd and illogical. But this "Venus" is not only a work of art, it is also a reference to pop culture and its bizarreness.
