Description: With acrylics, I painted this cable-stayed bridge during a plein air, quick paint competition during a Kansas City Parks Walktober Event. In the foreground is a cairn, a man-made pile of rocks that I found on the bank near the bridge. The contest was held at the Riverfront Heritage Trail within the Berkley Riverfront Park on the banks of the Missouri River. I painted this in the allotted time of two and a half hours. This cable stayed steel girder bridge was built in 2010 for I-29/I-35US 71 Highways that cross the Missouri River near downtown Kansas City. The bridge is named after Christopher Samuel “Kit” Bond who is a former senator from Missouri. Stacked stones in the foreground add an element of human touch to the natural setting.
