Celtic Knotwork Socks
Description: Celtic High Cross Decorative Knotwork is a modern design of ancient symbolism. In Ireland, it is believed that Saint Patrick combined the symbol of Christianity with the sun to give pagan followers an idea of the importance of the cross. Celtic crosses may have had origins in the early Coptic church used in early Christian Egypt. Description: Odin. God mask. Runes Hagalaz and Mannaz mean the names of the Odin's ravens Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory). They, along with the wolves Geri and Freki bring to Odin information from all over Midgard, day and night. This is evidenced by the Sun-Sol and Moon-Mani. In the middle, as a symbol of the continuity of life - Triskelion. At the bottom is a Odin's spear Gungnir was fashioned by the dwarves known as the Sons of Ivaldi.
Description: Celtic pagans or neopagans who are not of a Celtic cultural orientation, may use the triquetra to symbolise a variety of concepts and mythological figures. Due to its presence in insular Celtic art, Celtic Reconstructionists use the triquetra either to represent one of the various triplicities in their cosmology and theology (such as the tripartite division of the world into the realms of Land, Sea and Sky), or as a symbol of one of the specific Celtic triple goddesses, for example the battle goddess, The Morrígan. The symbol is also sometimes used by Wiccans and some New Agers to symbolise the Triple Goddess, or as a protective symbol.
Description: Based on the handwriting in the Nowell Codex, I have recreated in my own style the iconic opening word to the epic poem Beowulf. Sometimes translated as "listen", "what ho", "hear me", "attend", or "so" there is, overall, no consensus as to meaning. I have also created a-- much simplified-- version of an Anglo-Saxon sword to represent Hrunting, the sword Beowulf uses in battle against Grendel's mother.
Description: Based on a compilations of images of Cernunnos, I've re/created this version in my own style. Cernunnos is holding two torcs-- a type of Celtic jewelry-- and is wearing a large brooch. It's one of my few designs that's not completely historically accurate, but I really liked how the image turned out!
