Description: The Snow Leopard lives in the mountains of Central Asia. Snow leopards prefer the broken terrain of cliffs, rocky outcrops, and ravines. This type of habitat provides good cover and clear views to help them find prey, and sneak up on it. There are only about 3,920 and 6,390 snow leopards left in the wild. They are threatened by Poaching of the cats as well as their main prey animals, limiting their resources. This has been pushing them to prey on livestock and has caused more conflict between the beautiful cats and the local people.
Description: I'm back with the faces this week, this time a follow up to a previous Tiger piece only this time I've painted a white tiger instead. When I first planned on doing this piece, I was just going to work digitally on top of the original, however I quickly realized there's more diferences between these tigers than just the colour of their fur. To do this piece I started with a base of blues, purples and yellows and then (the time consuming part) I painted the fur texture by scraping away white acrylic paint using a cocktail skewer. It may be difficult to see in this scanned version, but each area of the white fur has a raised line texture. Description: A few years ago now I produced a watercolour painting of an Orangutan that’s proved to be quite popular. So now years later, a little wiser and little more skilled with the brush I’ve produced a follow up piece. I didn’t want to do another full body one because frankly the face of an Orangutan is too great to pass up painting. Personally I prefer this version and I may have to revisit more of my previous wildlife paintings like this
Description: Had a lot of fun painting this little guy, Had another experiment with the spray background technique but tried to make sure the focus was on the Red Panda. I finished this piece off with some soft pastels in places to give the fur a fluffy texture similar to what I did with my fox piece from a while ago.
Description: One day while I was driving down the road with my brother in law, we saw a snapping turtle trying to cross the road. It had almost been hit a handful of times so we pulled over to rescue it. It was challenging trying to move it without getting snapped at but we were successful and got the turtle to the other side with the help of another driver passing by. We felt like super heroes and I had to make this design to honor our good deed! ;D Turtle symbolism encompasses Mother Earth and our connection to her. Many different tales speak of the giant turtle carrying the entire world on it’s back. Some portray the turtle carrying the tree of life. Turtle is Earth, the mother of all life and the protector of the universe.
