Description: In David Cronenberg's 1983 film, Videodrome, there is a Catholic style inner-city shelter in downtown Toronto called the Cathode Ray Mission. Its purpose is to help what looks like homeless people get reintegrated into normal, everyday working life. But you soon learn that the people go to the mission are not really without homes so much as without televisions. What possible reason could there be for that? In order to patch the "derelicts" back into the world of normalization, they must be treated by exposure to television. So they come to Cathode Ray for their TV "fix" because after all, love comes in at the eye.
Description: Something’s gone terribly wrong at the Somafree Institute of Psychoplasmics, where, through intense psychological role playing Dr. Hal Raglan (Oliver Reed) has been encouraging troubled clients to manifest their repressed emotions and desires as fleshy, distinctly Cronenbergian excrescences that soon appear on their skin. The case of prized-patient Nola (Samantha Eggar), a troubled woman with monstrous mommy issues, however, has become particularly worrying: It appears Nola’s deep-seated rage has begun taking on unexpected—and homicidal—forms.
Description: Videodrome is a 1983 Canadian science fiction horror film directed by David Cronenberg. The movie is both disturbing and fascinating, known for its exploration of media manipulation, body horror, and psychological transformation. Starring James Woods and Debbie Harry, Videodrome follows the story of Max Renn, a cable TV executive searching for edgy content, who stumbles upon a mysterious broadcast signal of brutal violence and torture known as "Videodrome." Obsessed with the signal, Max begins a descent into hallucination and reality-blurring experiences, driven by the show's sinister influence.
Description: Seth Brundle, a brilliant but eccentric scientist, meets Ronnie Quaife, a science journalist, at a press event. He takes her back to his warehouse home and laboratory and shows her his invention: a set of "telepods" that allows instantaneous teleportation between pods. Seth convinces Ronnie to keep the invention secret in exchange for exclusive rights to the story, and she documents his work. Although the telepods can transport inanimate objects, they mutilate live tissue, which is demonstrated when a baboon is turned inside-out during an experiment.
