Dodo Socks
Description: The dodo (Raphus cucullatus) is an extinct flightless bird that was endemic to the island of Mauritius, east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. The dodo's closest genetic relative was the also extinct Rodrigues solitaire, the two forming the subfamily Raphinae of the family of pigeons and doves. The closest living relative of the dodo is the Nicobar pigeon. A white dodo was once thought to have existed on the nearby island of Réunion, but this is now thought to have been confusion based on the Réunion ibis and paintings of white dodos.
Description: A cartoon depiction of a dodo bird with a grumpy expression, shown in profile against a black background. The text "You're Extinct" is subtly visible in a faded dark blue font above the bird. The bird is primarily brown with lighter underparts and orange feet. The style is cartoonish and bold.
Description: A gentle dodo stands proudly with soft floral shapes and warm, uplifting colour. Teals, oranges and creams form a smooth, symmetrical pattern across its rounded feathers. The piece reflects traditional Scandinavian Folk Art through its decorative motifs and balanced structure. It feels as though the dodo is pausing in a quiet clearing, glowing with calm, friendly charm. Artwork by heidiannemorris © first published on Tuesday 5 May 2026, 09:28 BST.
