In the poem, Paradise is depicted as a series of concentric spheres surrounding the Earth, consisting of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Fixed Stars, the Primum Mobile and finally, the Empyrean. It was written in the early 14th century. Allegorically, the poem represents the soul's ascent to God.

Description: According to O’odham oral history, the labyrinth design depicts experiences and choices individuals make in the journey through life. In the middle of the “maze” a person finds their dreams and goals. An individual has a final opportunity when they reach the center, a last turn in the grand design, to look back upon their choices made and paths taken. Hopefully they have lived in harmony with nature and their fellow people. Finding balance, wisdom, and home along their journey of life with its twists and turns, joys and sorrows, choices and consequences. After this reflection the Sun God greets us, blesses us and passes us into the next world.
