Description: Original watercolor and inkline depiction of “The Queen of Pentacles” tarot card designed for an Art Nouveau deck. I designed this piece as part of a proposal for an all-female tarot card deck to be depicted in an art nouveau style. I also wanted the women to have different ethnicities depending on suit and for the deck to combine astrological (zodiac signs) and wiccan (elements, Four Directions, seasons) components into each card in a meaningful way. Description: My dear friend Antoine had just returned from a tour of India and had brought me back a gift of a hookah. It was an exceptionally beautiful item, crafted of blown opalescent glass and gilt in fine designs accented with jewels. I was beside myself with delight – I had always secretly wanted one. Description: Bio: Luke Gray is a surrealist/symbolist illustrator and painter. Born color blind he was forced to use an almost exclusively black and white colour palette, working with patterns and textures rather than color. Influenced by multicultural art techniques he works in traditional mediums of Graphite and Ink often combining and integrating techniques and patterns from different countries and cultures into his work.
