Description: Cordell Jackson was a true rock and roll pioneer—a guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, recording engineer, and record label owner who built an independent career long before the DIY movement. At a time when few women played electric guitar, much less ran studios or labels, Jackson did it all. After being turned down by established record companies, she founded Moon Records, one of Memphis's first independent labels. Along with releasing her own music, she recorded and promoted early rock and roll, rockabilly, and country artists, personally handling recording, engineering, pressing, and distribution in an industry overwhelmingly dominated by men.
Description: American record label formed by Ted Fegin and Lee Lassiff in 1965 in Los Angeles. Best known for recording The Turtles ("Happy Together"). Shut down in 1971; White Whale Records Inc. was sold to Sundazed then to Varèse Sarabande in 2004. It is currently owned by Concord Music Group.
