Description: "OM Mani Padme Hum (Sanskrit मणिपद्मम हूँ, Oṃ Maṇipadme Hūṃ) is probably the most famous Mantra of Buddhism, the six syllable mantra of compassion Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara (in Sanskrit) or Chenrezig (in Tibetan). The mantra is associated in particular with the four-armed Shadakshari depiction of Avalokiteshvara. The Dalai Lama is said to be a reincarnation of Avalokiteshvara, which is why the mantra is particularly revered by his followers".
Description: We spent many hours on the road in Amdo heading from Xining in the northeast to Mount Amnye Machen in the south.
