Description: Mayday 1971 was the largest civil disobedience action in American history, and yet, it has slipped into historical obscurity. In early May, upwards of 25k young people set out to do something extraordinary: shut down the government through nonviolent action. They called themselves the Mayday Tribe, and their slogan was succinct: "If the government won't stop the war, we'll stop the government." The goal was to snarl traffic so completely that government employees could not get to their jobs. Opinions vary as to whether the action was successful, but one thing was clear - the people were willing to fight for peace. This whimsical design from the early '70s carries that message forward as we see a lone soul doing his part to spread love.
