Description: Southern Pacific Lines was originally founded as a land holding company in 1865, later acquiring in 1885 the Central Pacific Railroad through leasing. By 1900, the Southern Pacific system was a major railroad system incorporating many smaller companies, such as the Texas and New Orleans Railroad and Morgan’s Louisiana and Texas Railroad. It extended from New Orleans through Texas to El Paso, across New Mexico and through Tucson, to Los Angeles, through most of California, including San Francisco and Sacramento. Central Pacific lines extended east across Nevada to Ogden, Utah, and reached north through Oregon to Portland.
Description: The Georgetown Loop railroad connects the once thriving Colorado mining towns of Georgetown and Silver Plume which lie 2 miles apart in a steep, narrow mountain canyon. Completed in 1884, this narrow gauge rail line was considered an engineering marvel for its time. It covers 3.1 winding miles of track, 640 feet of elevation gain, and crosses 4 bridges over Clear Creek, including the massive Devil's Gate High Bridge shown here.
Description: Chasing the Cumbres and Toltec by Debra Martz I've taken this scenic steam engine train ride from Antonito, CO to Chama, NM on several different occasions. It is a spectacular day filled with awesome views as you travel over high trestles, through tunnels, and along narrow shelves above deep gorges. At other times, while visiting Chama, NM, I've joined the enthusiastic "train chasers" to capture the train in action. I highly recommend the scenic ride but chasing the trains is tons of fun, too! ©Debra Martz, All Rights Reserved

Description: In 1975 Manila, one of the buildings that became iconic until it was demolished and redesigned in 2000's was called 'Virra Mall'; its wide, glass-panelled, wedged-pyramid canopy framework acting as a natural greenhouse for the surrounding upper-level plantation underneath served as the mall's iconic structure. The re-interpretation of its logo is a tribute to that by-gone era of modern architecture influence fostered in the Philippine capital.

Description: Caversham bridge, built in 1926, spanning the River Thames at Reading in Berkshire, England. It connects Reading with Caversham on the river's north bank. There has been a bridge here since the 1100s and in 1231 it is mentioned by Henry III who notes the presence of a chapel on the bridge on the side owned by William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke. There was a skirmish here during the Civil War when the Reading side had a wooden drawbridge which was later painted by JMW Turner. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200
