Description: Oda mon from the japanese shogunate. The mon is an emblem to designate a family, clan or even an organization. The kamon is used specifically to identify a family. The mon is similar to the coat of arms from European heraldic tradition. Although, there is a big difference, the mon stays clean and minimalistic in design. European crests tend to get very complicated by combining other family crests over the generations. Mon and Kamon are usually designed using a roundel containing a abstracted, stylized image of an object. This object can be a plant, an animal, a tool, or anything you fancy. Description: One of the oldest professional clubs in Japan, the Osaka Tigers (阪神タイガース ) played their first season in 1936. Part of the Nippon Professional Baseball league, Tigers fans have the reputation as the most fanatical and dedicated in the world, often outnumbering home team fans at Tigers away games. In the club’s early years, when they used this logo, their fans were known for their rough behavior, instigating brawls with the other teams' fans, if not each other. Today they are known as the Hanshin Tigers, and the mascot is named Torakkii, a portmanteau of Tora (トラ), meaning tiger and Rakki i (ラッキ), combined to mean "Lucky Tiger." Lightly distressed for an authentic retro look.

Description: Seishinkai is an organization for the promotion and teaching of a type of karate. When I found this kamon I learned it was associated with Seishinkai. The name is derived from a dojo in Osaka with the name Seishin. Which means "pure heart". This dojo started in 1943 in Osaka and taught a particular type of karate. For instance to karate fellows who had to leave Okinawa Japan at the time. I believe this kamon is from a british branch Seishinkai. It is an elegant flower petal abstract illustration. The spaces between the petals form a beautiful spiked star. The gold texture on a black background creates a rich effect.
