Description: R. G. LeTourneau founded R. G. LeTourneau, Inc. in 1929 in California as a manufacturer of earth moving equipment. Specializing in off-road dump trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment used in the mining and construction industries, LeTourneau manufactured his products in Longview, Texas. LeTourneau was largely responsible for the invention and development of many types of earth moving machines now widely used. He designed and built machines using technology that was years, sometimes decades, ahead of its time and became recognized worldwide as a leader in the development and manufacture of heavy equipment. After the death of R. G. LeTourneau in '69, the company was sold to Marathon Manufacturing in 1970, and renamed Marathon LeTourneau.
