Description: Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is a Japanese animated series about a five-member superhero ninja team. The original anime series, which debuted in 1972, was eponymously entitled Kagaku Ninja-tai Gatchaman and is best known in the English-speaking world as the adaptation entitled Battle of the Planets (1978) and G-Force: Guardians of Space (1986). Recurring themes of Gatchaman involve conservation, environmentalism, and the responsible use of technology for progress. The series centers around five young superhero ninjas employed by the fictitious International Science Organization to oppose an international terrorist organization of technologically advanced villains who are trying to control Earth's natural resources.
