Description: Another throwback from my days studying psychology. This shirt is based on a study conducted in the 70’s and by Zimbardo and his colleagues. They staged arrests of participants who had volunteered to be in a study on fake charges and put them in jail. Other volunteers became jailers and had to keep the prisoners in order. It got a bit out of hand as the participants took on the roles given to them a bit to seriously.
Description: A dark composition featuring a bald male figure sitting with his head in his hands, conveying distress. The text 'CREED' is prominently displayed above in large, bold, golden letters, followed by 'MY OWN PRISON' in smaller, white letters below a thin golden line. The figure is rendered with detailed musculature against a black background.
Description: Opened in July 1852, San Quentin is the oldest prison in California and the state's only death row for male inmates, the largest in the United States. It has a gas chamber, but since 1996, executions at the prison have been carried out by lethal injection, though the prison has not performed an execution since 2006. The prison has been featured on film, radio drama, video, podcast, and television; is the subject of many books; has hosted concerts; and has housed many notorious inmates. The correctional complex sits on Point San Quentin, which consists of 432 acres on the north side of San Francisco Bay. This souvenir style design features an etching of the earliest iteration of the prison, with Mt. Tamalpais standing in the background.
