Description: Long before there was Pride Month, there was Gay Freedom Day. Originating in San Francisco, the soon-to-be inaugural event in was a small 20- to 30-person march of “hair faeries” followed by a “gay-in” in Golden Gate Park in the summer of 1970, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The following years saw Gay Freedom Day grow and the march turn into a parade in 1972, which over the years became what is more commonly known nowadays simply as the Gay Pride Parade. This design is based on the 1972 event and includes a butterfly that was utilized for the event in the early years, along with plenty of arts and crafts ornaments.
Description: Now with the more minimal design! There's a very confrontational feel to the word "queer" because of its messy history. It's a little bold and a little in-your-face and sometimes I think we, as a community, really need that. Especially in times like these when our lives, families, and rights are threatened, we need people who're willing to be confrontational. (I've once again been seduced by the the light-on-dark color scheme.)
