Description: "The Sin of Pride" refers to an excessive and exaggerated sense of one's own worth, abilities, or accomplishments, often accompanied by arrogance and a disregard for others. In the context of the Seven Deadly Sins, Pride is one of the cardinal vices, representing a self-centered and inflated view of oneself.
Description: "Casino Center" was a downtown branding effort that came and went in the 60s. 2nd Street was renamed "Casino Center Blvd" in the middle of this campaign. It was the first but not the last time downtown competed with the Strip for visitors. They also built a billboard sign along I-15 approaching Las Vegas, 1967 that read Downtown Casino Center → 10 Minutes. The name change has stood the test of time, as for that "Downtown Casino Center" sign, it was built by the same team who made the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. They first placed it near the site of the present-day Cosmo, then later moved it out to the highway. Unfortunately its now long gone.
Description: The settlement of Las Vegas, Nevada was founded in 1905 after the opening of a railroad that linked Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Urbanization took off in 1931 when work started on the Boulder Dam (now the Hoover Dam), bringing a huge influx of young male workers, for whom theaters and casinos were built, largely by the Mafia. Electricity from the dam also enabled the building of many new hotels along the Strip. The arrival of Howard Hughes in 1966 did much to offset mob influence and helped turn Las Vegas into more of a family tourist center, now classified as a Mega resort. defunct casino
Description: he El Morocco started out as a bar with slot machines on the West side of Las Vegas; when it opened in 1945 it was one of the few places where African-Americans could go to gamble in Las Vegas. This was a time when African-Americans were not allowed inside of the casinos in downtown Las Vegas or on the nascent strip. the El Morocco stood out as one club that although its history was brief was not totally forgotten by the passage of time.
Description: Lilith is a character in Jewish mythology found earliest in the Babylonian Talmud, and is generally thought to be related to a class of female demons. In Jewish folklore, Lilith was Adam's first wife, who was created at the same time and from the same earth as he was. Lilith abandoned both her husband and marriage after refusing to become subservient to Adam. She was subsequently cursed by God for her disobedience when she would not return to the Garden of Eden after an affair with the archangel, Samael.
