Description: The infamous MANIMAL was an American action–adventure television series that ran on NBC for a few weeks in 1983. It centered on Dr. Jonathan Chase (played by Simon MacCorkindale), man who used his ability to shape-shif to help police solve crimes. While Dr. Chase could change himself into any animal he chose, he only transformed into a hawk and a black panther in every episode, occasionally transforming into a third animal such as a horse, dolphin, bear or bull in some episodes, with those transformations conveniently taking place offscreen, though in one episode a snake transformation was shown. These sequences were designed and created by legendary SFX artist Stan Winston.
Description: The mark on the door, then: what was that? Bill marked it as a paper boat. Stan saw it as a bird rising toward the sky—a phoenix, perhaps. Michael saw a hooded face—that of crazy Butch Bowers, perhaps, if it could only be seen. Richie saw two eyes behind a pair of spectacles. Beverly saw a hand doubled up into a fist. Eddie believed it to be the face of the leper, all sunken eyes and wrinkled snarling mouth—all disease, all sickness, was stamped into that face. Ben Hanscom saw a tattered pile of wrappings and seemed to smell old sour spices.
