The 1968 model refined the formula that made the original an instant success, combining sporty performance with premium styling and comfort. Buyers could choose from a wide range of V8 engines ranging from the venerable 289 mill all the way up to the legendary 428 Cobra Jet, which transformed the Cougar into a formidable muscle car. The performance-oriented GT-E package paired the 428CJ with heavy-duty suspension.
