Description: Learned that Van Gogh got inspired by woodblock prints from Japan when making the "Starry Night" piece so it is fitting to make my own version of it in ukiyo-e esthetics. That is why the Great Wave and Starry Night resonates to me so much! The broken lines, swirls and repeated fast strokes is eminent in these two masterpieces.
Description: Ukiyoe Monkey "Songoku" by Tuskioka yoshitoshi. Print shows Son Goku, a monkey sometimes known as the Monkey King, holding a spiked sceptre and glaring at the Moon Rabbit, who apparently lives on the moon. Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (Japanese: 月岡 芳年; also named Taiso Yoshitoshi 大蘇 芳年; 30 April 1839 – 9 June 1892) was a Japanese printmaker. Yoshitoshi has widely been recognized as the last great master of the ukiyo-e genre of woodblock printing and painting. He is also regarded as one of the form's greatest innovators.

Depicting Nobunaga tearing down a tent curtain decorated with the crest of his treacerous vassal Akechi Mitsuhide. Behind is the kamon of Oda clan, with calligraphy kanji of Oda Nobunaga, signature and seal of Kuniyoshi.

Depicting Dosan spying on Oda Nobunga in distance, to dertermine whether Nobunaga will make an acceptable son-in-law. Behind is the kamon of Saito clan, with calligraphy kanji of Saito Dosan, signature and seal of Kuniyoshi.

Depicting Morimoto wearing full armor, gazing at the enemy arrow which has pierced his left arm. Behind is the kamon of Morimoto family, with calligraphy kanji of Morimoto Gidayu, signature and seal of Kuniyoshi.

Depicting Katsuie destroying his own troops water vessel to inspire the army before battle. Behind is the kamon of 柴田 勝家 clan, with calligraphy kanji of Shibata Katsuie, signature and seal of Kuniyoshi.
