Description: As the machine uprising is almost inevitable at some point, I thought I’d get in their good graces early. Maybe I’ll be spared for a little while! I had happened upon a book of North Korean propaganda posters at my local library. I was amused at the messages that tried convince individuals that being drones in a larger machine was the ideal way to succeed in all things, and the ultimate expression of patriotism, and that even milking your goat can be an act of defiance against your oppressors. The idea of using these messages to encourage passion and unity in true emotionless drones was titillating and lead to this piece.

Description: True Romance is a film chock full of excellent individual scenes featuring legendary actors in small roles, and many (myself included) have praised these roles and scenes as "making" the film. But at the heart of this ultra-violent and bitingly funny and smart film is a love story. It would be easy for all of the powerful scenes and huge cameos to overshadow the leads, Alabama and Clarence Worley, but Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater don't let that happen; they have no problem carrying the main story, and somehow make several ridiculous premises believable. The genuine sweetness and love between them is ultimately the most satisfying element of the film, and the real reason we keep coming back to watch.
