With its quirky cartoon mascot, Professor Egghead, and well-trained staff that could explain products in simple terms, Egghead was a hit with consumers. The company continued to expand with new locations throughout the '90s as part of the dot-com bubble, but when the bubble burst in 2000, things came crashing down and by 2001, it was all over.
