Description: The Beat Generation was an American social and literary movement originating in the 1959’s and centered in the bohemian artist communities of San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury, Venice Beach Los Angeles and New York’s Greenwich Village. Here I’ve tried to capture the essence of Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.
Description: Yes, the address from which we joined the TARDIS and her crew on their adventures! This is a clean, non grubby version of the writing. Every version of this I have seen makes do with fonts, including a cursive script for the Scrap Merchant section. I chose to painstakingly copy the original hand-painted lettering from screen caps and photos of the original sign in both the pilot and first episodes of Doctor Who to create an accurate vector graphic version. What this means is, I’ve carefully replicated some of the badly painted letters of the original, but that I’ve also captured their uniqueness! There will be two other versions soonish. A grubbier version, and one replicating the look of the original wooden gates.
Description: Edward Teach, c. 1680 – 22 November 1718, better known as Blackbeard, was an English pirate who operated around the West Indies and the eastern coast of Britain's North American colonies. Pirates, buccaneers, corsairs, privateers, river pirates, and others involved in piracy and piracy-related activities.
Description: English poet, painter, and illustrator William Blake (1757-1827) is usually associated with the Romantic Age but is hard to put on any shelf. Both in his visual arts and his literature, Blake often elaborates motifs from the religious narrative. He did it with the passion and brilliancy of a genius. Even though he was almost unknown in his lifetime, every century that passed held Blake in higher regard. This image is based on his historical self-portrait.
