Description: The legend of Daedalus and Icarus tells how the father, fleeing the wrath of a king of ancient Crete named Minos, devised for himself and his son special wings made of feathers that were bound together with wax. Daedalus warned Icarus of the dangers of flying too high, as the sun could melt the wax. As the legend goes, he soared too high on his way to Hellas. As a result, the wax in the young man's wings was melted by the sun's rays, and Icarus fell into the water and drowned. According to mythology, this happened near the island of Samos.
