A kelpie is a supernatural water creature from Scottish folklore that is said to take on the appearance of a horse, but with a sleek and shiny black coat that resembles wet seaweed. The kelpie is often depicted as a malevolent creature that lures unsuspecting people, especially children, into the water with promises of a ride on its back. Once the person is in the water, the kelpie's skin becomes adhesive and it drags the victim under the water to drown them.
