Drawing inspiration from classic Japanese yakuza cinema and Kitano's unforgettable performances in Violent Cop, Sonatine and Hana-bi, this design is a tribute to one of Japan's most distinctive cinematic figures.
Description: A graphic tribute to Takeshi Kitano’s Dolls (2002), inspired by the film’s extraordinary use of colour, changing seasons and tragic romance. Two figures stand beneath a vivid canopy of red autumn leaves in a restrained, hand-drawn design celebrating one of Kitano’s most visually beautiful films. Description: My original technical illustration reimagines Kinji Fukasaku's Battle Royale (2000) as a sinister government-issued schematic, featuring the students' explosive tracking collar, a lone schoolgirl and detailed Japanese annotations. Combining dystopian Japanese cinema, retro instructional graphics and stark red-and-black screen-print aesthetics, this design celebrates one of the most influential cult thrillers of the early 2000s.
Description: An unlikely Christmas greeting from the world of Nagisa Oshima's Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), where David Bowie, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kitano inhabit a story of captivity, conflict and unexpected human connection. My original vintage-inspired illustration brings together the film's unforgettable characters, a sweeping samurai sword and the famous festive title in a bold, limited-colour composition.
