Blackwork Tapestries
Description: We set time aside to learn more about the tattooing process and its societal importance and history. If you don’t have a tattoo, you’re likely to know someone who does, and if you’ve asked them how they knew at the time when they were getting inked whether they would still want that design on their skin years or decades later, you may have just gotten a peculiar look instead of an explanation. There is certainly a fraternal connection between people who bear tattoos, a connection that those without ink can never really understand.
Description: Celebrate the art of healing with this vintage medical collage. Featuring a realistic anatomical heart, skeletal hand, and antique nursing tools like a pocket watch and glass syringe. Created in a timeless black ink engraving style with detailed stippling. Elegant, professional, and historically inspired.
Description: A detailed illustration that blends human anatomy with dark art. This piece features a skull with an exposed brain, drawn in an ink style with deep shading inspired by blackwork tattoo art. The perfect design for lovers of gothic aesthetics, neuroscience, vintage anatomy, and macabre illustration. Ideal for dark t-shirts, detailed stickers, or art prints.
Description: For this block print I have based my design of Tudor style embroidery. Many of the Tudors clothes were embroidered with sweeping vines and floral patterns. Here you can see a small bird perched among a flowering vine. Done in black and white it also reminds me a lot of Tudor style blackwork. I've recreated this bird motif as a hand-carved block print and printed it by hand before scanning it to make this design.
