Commodore Tapestries
Description: Gift from the Gods – Back in 1984 it was all about Gift From the Gods, a ZX Spectrum game from Ocean Software. Based on a classic Myth generally attributed to Homer, you control Orestes in a quest to avenge his father’s murder. With a heady mix of arcade, puzzle and dungeon-crawling gameplay, it could be said that many games today draw heavily on this ground-breaking 8-bit title. Now you can own a piece of mythological gaming history with this official merchandise. Overall design copyright © 2020 Subvert Ltd. Description: After finding that computer game publishers were not interested in his first game, war game enthusiast Joel Billings launched his own company to publish and distribute his computer titles in 1979. Calling his new venture Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI), it didn't take long before Billings' company was the dominant force in computer war games. Throughout the '80s and into the early 1990s, SSI was holding its own against the publishers that once turned down Billings' games. The mid-'80s saw SSI began licensing properties to be used as new computer war game titles. SSI was acquired in 1994, spent time as part of a toy company, and finally became part of a larger game house that ended up by retiring the brand name a few years later.
