Koi Tapestries
Description: This unique yin yang design by artist Jeff Bartels features two stylized koi fish. A traditional Japanese fish appears in both sides of this symbol for natural balance. The scales of the fish are defined by the negative space in between small half circles that run down the length of the bodies. The simple fins are painted a solid color that mirrors the opposite side if the yin yang. This stylish pattern is a beautiful interpretation of this ancient symbol.
Description: I paint a lot of koi. I love the contrast of the orange fish against the blue waters. I love the mix of hard and loose color patches within the fish. And I love the simple shapes of them even as they turn and dart around in the water. This watercolor is called DESCENDING KOI because the school of fish are gathering and diving deep in the water.
