Execution Tapestries
Description: The Salem Witch Trials Design commemorates a dark moment in American history when witchcraft hysteria rocked the Colonial Massachusetts town of Salem between February 1692 and May 1693. Over 200 were accused after a number of Salem girls began to exhibit strange epileptic type fits which was attributed to the demonic influence of witchcraft. During the course of the Witch Trials, nineteen people were hanged and another was executed by being pressed to death.
Description: This is a monochromatic depiction of a historical execution device known as a guillotine. The structure is made of wood with visible grain textures. To the left of the device, there is text written in an older script, appearing as "Я", followed by "+1" and "1.". The overall style is suggestive of a woodcut or linocut.
