Existentialism Tapestries

He won the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 44 in 1957, the second youngest recipient in history. Philosophically, Camus's views contributed to the rise of the philosophy known as absurdism. He is also considered to be an existentialist, despite his having firmly rejected the term throughout his lifetime.
Description: Make friends with emptiness. Make friends with loneliness too. Confronting one’s existence is what well adjusted people do Say hello to the darkness, give my best to the endless void Find inner peace with discontent for soon we all shall be destroyed Embrace all impermanence. Be grateful for the curse. The urgency of life precedes the heat death of the universe. As we watch our home planet melt like ice cream in the sun We’ll be together in extinction hold our hands and die as one All debts will be canceled the prisoners walk free The former laws of man made void in cosmic year of jubilee So smile when you see it, the mercy of the end Pour a glass of wine for death invite them inside as a friend
Description: René Descartes (1596–1650) was a creative mathematician of the first order, an important scientific thinker, and an original metaphysician. During the course of his life, he was a mathematician first, a natural scientist or “natural philosopher” second, and a metaphysician third.
Description: The phrase "do it or don't do it, you'll regret both" is a quote by the philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, which highlights the existential paradox of choice. It suggests that regret is an inevitable part of the human condition, as one will have remorse for both taking action and for inaction. The quote is not meant to be pessimistic, but rather to encourage individuals to choose a path, as all choices are fraught with the possibility of regret, but some regrets, like those from inaction, may cut deeper.
Description: Charles Pierre Baudelaire was a French poet who also produced notable work as an essayist, art critic, and one of the first translators of Edgar Allan Poe. His poems exhibit mastery in the handling of rhyme and rhythm, contain an exoticism inherited from Romantics, but are based on observations of real life.
