NeXTSTEP, its object-oriented operating system, introduced innovations like the Dock, Interface Builder, and development frameworks that would later influence modern computing. Although NeXT hardware struggled commercially due to high costs, its software proved groundbreaking; in fact, Tim Berners-Lee created the first web browser and server on a NeXT machine. In 1997, NeXT was aquired and NeXTSTEP would live on as the foundation of OSX, cementing NeXT’s lasting legacy.
