Description: Aquilegia vulgaris (European columbine, common columbine, granny's nightcap, granny's bonnet) is a species of columbine native to Europe. It is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant growing to 1.2 m tall, with branched, thinly hairy stems. The leaves are biternate; each leaf has three groups of three leaflets.
Description: This artwork is part of my series of “new breed” dogs — silhouettes I’ve cut into four parts and puzzled back together, celebrating the joy of mixed breeds. The design you see here is based on one of my original paintings, featuring the Blue Tongue, a native Australian plant that comes in many beautiful colours. Just like the plants that inspired it, this piece is about variety, resilience, and uniqueness. Every mixed breed dog is healthy, happy, and full of personality — and I wanted that same spirit to shine through in this abstract botanical silhouette.
